'Tawampa' tea towel

Wonders of the Volcano acknowledges the Giabal and Jarowair peoples, the traditional custodians of the land on which we make, nurture and celebrate the arts in our region. When researching the naming of Toowoomba we learnt that the area was often referred to as "The Swamp", or as the Aborigines pronounced it, "Tawampa". It was only later that "Tawampa" was translated to what we now know as Toowoomba. This tea towel design pays tribute to this earlier name.
