Wonders of the Volcano is a creative enterprise established by sisters Caitlin and Sarah. After many years working independently in the art and design world, the sisters joined forces to create beautiful things that celebrate their volcanic home, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
Caitlin and Sarah grew up in Toowoomba, and left their hometown when heading to University to study Architecture, Marketing and Fine Art. Both went on to work in their chosen fields locally and abroad, and have recently returned to live in Toowoomba.
The sisters have always been interested in creating products that encompass the ideals of quality and authenticity within a local context. With their complementary skill-sets they set out to create Wonders of the Volcano.
The name of the business draws on the volcanic history of Toowoomba set on the scenic rim of the Great Dividing Range. The dramatic escarpment of the Main Range is a remnant of a volcano that was active some 24 million years ago. The city stands 2000 feet above sea level with some of the world's great panoramas - views of mountains, hillsides, farmlands and valleys. One of the first products that the sisters produced was a tea towel illustration that celebrates the wonders of their volcanic home, Toowoomba.
Their products make the perfect gift and/or souvenir from Toowoomba and they also enjoy working on collaborations and commissions. Don't hesitate to send an email enquiry via the contact page.
Wonders of the Volcano acknowledges the Giabal and Jarowair peoples, the traditional custodians of the land on which we make, nurture and celebrate the arts in our beautiful volcanic region.
